Frank D’Agostino is a Playwright, Composer, Lyricist, professional ice skater, and coach. In today’s episode Frank shares his inspirational story. At 12 years old he discovered ice skating and it awakened his creative side.

Frank D’Agostina’s Background

Frank, the creator of Ice Champion, holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Theatre from Siena College in Loudonville, New York. He has written and produced numerous full-length plays, musicals and cabaret shows throughout the United States. His nationally released album Moments, was nominated for album of the year by the Manhattan Association of Cabaret’s (M.A.C).

His musical, Vivianna, a modern-day version of La Traviata was given a NJ Perry Award nomination for outstanding production of a new musical and played at the Grand Theatre at the Producer’s Club Theatres on West 44th Street. My Heinous Life had a successful run at the William S. Buck Memorial Theatre in New Hope PA and The Eatontown Playhouse and Dramatist Guild, New York as well as the Pulse Ensemble Theatre, off Broadway in New York city, and won a NJ Perry Award nomination for outstanding original production of a new musical.

His musical, Cravings played at the Phillips Mill Playhouse in Pennsylvania and at the Kraine Theatre in New York City and Off Broadway at the Pulse Ensemble Theatre. Frank has also received stellar reviews for the musical revue entitled, “If the Boy Is Prettier Than You” which played at Danny’s Skylight Room, Judy’s in New York City and Odette’s in New Hope PA.

Frank is an accomplished figure skater and coach. He is a United States Figure Skating Association Gold Medalist and has skated to his own musical compositions at the United States Open.

As a member of the Dramatist Guild, Inc. he has appeared as a panelist and moderator several times discussing Playwriting and Producing.

In 2016 his new musical, Hell’s Kitchen premiered at the Players Theatre in New York City. In addition, An Evening of Songs by Frank D’Agostino, A Concert, played at the famed Provincetown Theatre in Provincetown MA.
Productions of Ice Champion included an 8-week equity sold out run at the Gateway Playhouse in long Island. In addition, the show has been performed at the Bryant Park Ice rink in New York City, Central Park, New York City and numbers were performed at The Nassau Coliseum.

Olympic and world competitors who have performed and skated to music written for Ice Champion include, Junior World Champion, Derrick Delmore, Olympic and World competitor, Elena Glebova and Olympic and World competitors and National Champions, John and Sinead Kerr of Great Britain, and several U.S. national competitors as well as Olympic Gold Medalist skaters. He is a proud member of ASCAP and the Dramatist Guild and the Professional skaters Guild of America.

Ice Champion is his latest musical and melds together his worlds of figure skating and theater.
