L #142 – Taking things personally

Many times we take things personally. When we are already stressed out about certain things in our life we often personalize events that have nothing to do with us. We think a friend is deliberately trying to annoy us, or that a person looking at us is judging us. When you compare your stressed out version of yourself versus the calm, more peaceful version of yourself you will see that your level of sensitivity and how often you take things personally is significantly different. When you can create a buffer to remind yourself that your current state of mind is altered by your current circumstances it will be easier for you to remind yourself that no one “has it out for you” or that people aren’t talking about your or trying to set you up.
