We all know what anxiety feels like, but most of us don’t realize that we actually feel hopeless, or helpless about a situation. Thinking about a future event puts us in a place where we don’t feel like we have control.

The workaround is to bring your mind’s eye closer to the present moment, thinking about what happens then. If you feel like you can overcome that event, then focus on that. Once you feel in control again and empowered, then you can start to think about something that’s farther out in the future.

Remember, anxiety is linked with helplessness. You always have options and the agency to focus on what you can do, instead of what you cannot do.

Life happens to all of us. Sometimes our anxious thoughts can lead us to have so much anxiety and panic that we feel like we are going out of our skin.

You have to engage in healthy physical movement in order to release it. If you don't that energy will turn inward and your thoughts will spiral out of control.

You get to figure out what physical movement means to you. Jump up and down, run in place, do jumping jacks, anything to help expel the energy from the anxious thoughts.

Self-care is one of the kindest gifts you can give yourself. Often we think we don’t have time for self-care, but what you are basically saying is that everyone’s time, drama, and concerns are yours.

When you incorporate self-care into all aspects of your life you’ll see burnout, frustrations, and agitation subside.

Self-care can be many things from a quick self-talk, reading a book for a few minutes, going on a short walk, a quick meditation, a prayer, you name it. Whatever gives you a boost of energy or helps you feel refreshed for the next hour.

Self-care is a must. Make it a priority today.

Like me, you have overreacted several times in a conversation. There are two types of responses, your First reactive response and then your Second, proactive response.

if you feel a spike of emotion when you are talking you have to use self-talk techniques to calm yourself down if you want to have an effective conversation.

When two people are in their First response the conversation will just be two people bickering without any healthy resolution.

Be mindful of when you are in your First response and choose to move to your Second response for a healthy, productive conversation.

Life happens to all of us. We will have many opponents and haters who will spread negative things about you or attack your character. What do you do when this happens? It's easy to fire back at them and point out areas in their lives, but does that actually help you? Unfortunately, it does not.

You can use your past to review your character and who you are. Data does not lie. Your character has always won out in the past. So it will win out today as well. If you struggle to find clarity, ask your close friends to remind you of times when you were in a similar situation and how you handled it. They will rally around you and support you during this time.

Adversity will always happen to us, and it's good to remind yourself that this event will also be powerful data for future events. So be encouraged, my friend; you will overcome this as well.

During the winter months, many people struggle wit

During the winter months, many people struggle with Seasonal Depression. Usually, it’s related to a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is absorbed through the skin. In the colder climates, we wear more clothes, and the skin is not exposed to sunlight.

Other times, we are lacking in vitamin B. A healthy diet full of vitamin B12 or supplements can help reduce depressive symptoms.

Lastly, a light therapy box (you can find an inexpensive one on amazon) can help increase serotonin levels, reducing depressive symptoms.

Winter is full of wonderful things, but be proactive and talk to your licensed provider to check your vitamin levels as well as research how light therapy can help you decrease seasonal depression.

We all know what a vision board is. It’s a visualization of all the goals and aspirations we hope to accomplish.

However, did you know that you essentially are living in a 3-d version of your goals. If we use a vision board to look at, that’s our sense of sight. How does the rest of your room/house look lkle? Do you handle you belongings with care and respect?

The people you associate with are part of your “relationship board.” Do they inspire you and encourage you to be the healthiest version of yourself? Remember, we become like the people with whom we spend time. You can't hang out with chickens and expect to soar with eagles.

How do you handle your finances today? This is your “financial board.” Is it leading you towards success or ruin?

You get the picture. Everything in our lives either move us towards or away from our goals.

#Anxious thoughts can plague many people. #Anxiety

#Anxious thoughts can plague many people. #Anxiety can create a frenetic #energy that has to go somewhere.

When it is not externalized it often turns towards more thoughts. Those thoughts then increase one’s #heart rate which then, in turn, causes a person to enter a #panicattack state.

Physical movement is one way to counteract anxiety. Whether you go to the #gym, like me, or simply go for a #walk you are using the “frenetic energy” for something productive, like #exercise.

If you can, incorporate some form of physical movement as a preventative measure. Think of it like your #metabolism, your metabolism burns off what you eat, and #physicalmovement will “burn off” any anxious energy before it gets too intense.

The more you build this into your day and show #self #love the more you are in control of your #thoughts and #emotions.

Regardless of how busy you are, self-care is one of the most important necessities that must be built into your day. Without it, you will not be as effective, or have the stamina to avoid eventual burnout.

Reverse engineer your following day by planning when you will go to bed. Work your schedule backwards until the present moment and be sure to build in your version of self-care. The more you do this the more you will look forward to these “reset moments” and find that you have more than enough energy to accomplish your daily responsibilities.

Be kind to yourself and others.

As we know, the sunrise is a beautiful reminder that we have another day to be grateful.

However, another way to look at it is every morning you’re given “100 energy points” and the goal is to “spend” those points appropriately.

On what will you spend those points?

If you find at the end of the day you’re exhausted, or have nothing left to give, more than likely you’ve spent those points on things that really don’t matter.

The goal before you fall asleep is to self- examine and reflect on how much energy you have left, and how fulfilled you feel from your day.

Life happens to all of us and we have every right

Life happens to all of us and we have every right to feel how we want to feel. However, sometimes those reactive feelings turn into reactive behaviors. If you take a moment and ask yourself, “and then what…?” it allows you to stop and think about what the consequences may be for your actions.

For example:

You can reply to your boss in a negative way, and then what?
You can stay out later with your friends, and then what?
You can eat that second piece of pie, and then what?
You can reach out to your ex, and then what?
You can tell that person off, and then what?

If you want to create healthy habits, then use this question to help you focus on those results.

For example:

You can go to bed early so you have the energy to wake up early for that exercise program.
You can smile at that person who seems like she is having a difficult day.
You can choose to walk away from the person who is gaslighting you

When we think beyond the current moment, it gives us insight into what the potential consequences may be.

Be Kind to one another.

“Life” happens to all of us. When we are blind

“Life” happens to all of us. When we are blindsided by life we often become overwhelmed and uncertain of what to do.

I always tell people to be as preventative as possible. What I mean by that is this, in every moment you want to look for opportunities or blessings - they are all around us.

When you recognize an opportunity or a “blessing” you want to record it, either in your journal or simply in a note on your phone (that’s what I do). That way, when “life” happens you can pull up this running list of all the amazing, wonderful things that you’ve experienced. These reminders allow you to recognize that what you are feeling now, will pass and there are even more amazing things in store for you.

What you are feeling today will not last. You have a purpose and a plan for your life and there are many wonderful things in store for you.

When you look for opportunities/blessings you will find them.

Unfortunately, far too many of women will do so without a comprehensive—or even adequate—understanding of what is happening to their bodies and moods during this transition. Menopause brings about the end of menstruation, but there is much more to know about the journey and long-term health implications.

But one thing is certain: Menopause is more than hot flashes and it doesn’t happen overnight. Jaime A. Adoptees are an invisible community, living in plain sight, but whose adopted status is unseen by others. They share a fundamental core experience of separation from their mother or primary caregiver that leaves a deep psychic wound, no matter how well they fare later in life. The powerful effects of this developmental trauma can last a lifetime.

Imaginally, there’s an orphan who lives within them. The orphan is homeless, restless, disconnected, and searching for something or someone it can’t find, including its very soul. For some, the orphan’s persistent presence may intermittently arise through feelings and behavior at any stage or circumstance. No orphan, however, is beyond redemption. The lost orphan can be found in the shadows and brought to the safety and security of light. Disconnection can be healed by loving reconnection.
