Where you simplify and transform your spirit, mind, and body

Address your emotions, instead of eating your feelings

As children we learn how to self-sooth in order to relieve ourselves from negative emotions. All self-soothing behaviors stem from our five senses. Our sense of taste was one of the primary ways we were able to soothe. As an adult we revert back to the physical behavior of self soothing by putting something in our mouth. When we can’t control our emotions we use food to relive our childhood version of self-soothing. Unfortunately, you are just eating your feelings and in the end not addressing your emotions.

Blogger, Nicole Romanella-O’Neal shares her personal story of searching for the perfect diet to help her with her emotional eating. She created Monday DIeter to help and encourage individuals who eat their feelings and who continually search for the perfect diet to “fix them.” Nicole normalizes the struggle of eating your feelings by shedding light on what is really causing the binge eating. – unidentified emotional struggles.
